Why are devs working so much to earn as much as possible?
Some developers earn enough to afford an expensive house and a car, but not others.
Some earn enough, but they aren’t making much money.
The question for many developers is whether they can keep up with the ever-changing needs of the mobile market.
We asked more than 50 game developers and business executives to rank their experience, motivations, and opportunities.
Here’s what they had to say.1.
James, developer of Super Mario Odyssey and other games at Supergiant GamesThe average developer salary for 2016 was $81,200, according to the National Association of Independent Business.
James says that, “We are working to earn the maximum amount possible with our team.
We need to make the most of our time, but also to make a profit.
We are also focusing on what is most important, and that is creating a quality game.”2.
Chris, developer at Supermassive GamesThe CEO of SupermassiveGames says that his team has to focus on creating the best possible game for the players, and making sure that the games they make aren’t “a cash grab.”
“We need to pay attention to the players and what they want and need from a game, and then we need to build the game and have the most fun for them.
The more fun we have, the more money we will make,” he says.3.
Jason, developer and CEO of Inverse StudiosA freelance writer who has worked on games for a few years, Jason is often asked about his own income.
He says that it depends on the game.
“A game that has a huge budget and is going to be a big success is going have a lot more to do with a good business plan, which we do, and we’re not going to work on our own,” he explains.4.
Dan, game director at Team Fortress 2 studio and author of the book The 5 Biggest Mistakes that Almost All Indie Developers MakeA big part of the problem is that game development has changed so much over the years.
“We now have the ability to create a lot of assets and we can make games faster than ever before.
But I think a lot is also due to the fact that the quality of our games has dropped in the last five years,” he said.5.
Daniel, game designer and founder of the developer community site The Indie Game AwardsA veteran of the game industry, Daniel says that he feels that he can’t “go out and just make games for $5,000 a pop,” as some developers do.
“If you want to be successful in the industry, you need to be able to build a team that can build and make a game at a high quality for $25,000 to $50,000,” he suggests.6.
Dan Duchaine, director of marketing at EA SportsThe head of EA Sports is one of the most successful executives in the game business.
He has a big following of game players and fans, and he’s always on the lookout for new ideas.
“When I think about how many new ideas we’ve created in the past year, I think I could write a book about it,” he told us.7.
Mark, executive director of digital media at Warner Bros. InteractiveThe former CEO of the gaming company is now working on games.
“I am really passionate about games, and I love seeing their development and the community of game developers that I work with,” he explained.8.
Michael, game developer and former head of development at Rockstar GamesA veteran game designer, Michael has been involved with the industry since its infancy, and says that the game development is still very different today.
“Game development has become more complex.
Games are more interactive, more social, and more social games have become very popular,” he pointed out.9.
Matt, creative director at Warner Brothers InteractiveThe head writer for Rockstar games has spent much of his career as a creative director.
“There’s a huge amount of people in the development team that I’ve been a part of that I’d never even seen before,” he admits.
“It’s hard to know where you are when you’ve been part of it for so long.”10.
Justin, founder and CEO at MojangThe co-founder of Mojang says that “developing games is a team sport.
You have to put in the work, and it’s hard not to put the same effort in.”
His team is focused on the long-term and he thinks that the “best games have a long life.”11.
Alex, senior writer at PolygonAlex says that game developers have to be “careful about the quality” of their work because they want to make games that are “worth playing.”
“If you think about a game and how much effort you put into it, you might not think it’s worth playing.
But that’s because you’re working on a game that you know
