A developer of a software platform for the online trading of products and services from the roblOX network has been arrested in Iran, according to a report on the Iranian news site The Voice of America.
The developer, who goes by the alias “Shahsh,” was arrested in the city of Tabriz, the report said.
He was reportedly arrested for allegedly participating in the sale of illegal drugs and was also accused of having stolen a truck, according the Voice of American.
Shahsh is a resident of Tabarak, according a statement from the city.
Shahs brother, Shahin, also reportedly confirmed the arrest in a Facebook post.
The account has since been deleted.
“I have never heard of a case like this,” Shahsh’s brother told the Voice.
Shahin is a self-described entrepreneur who owns the roBlox development studio in Iran.
In an interview with the Voice, Shahsh, who is in his 20s, said he had been living in the United States for five years.
He had been working as an “in-house” developer for the company and had been “a full-time employee for two years,” Shahin told the newspaper.
“Now I am a citizen, I can go to the U.S. and work,” he said.
